Your personal library
The dice, bags, tokens and sets you keep in your personal library are stored on your device and synced through your own iCloud account. Signing in does not upload that library to our community backend. Sharing a set or including its components in a shared session does send a copy of that content.
Accounts and shared sessions
Shared sessions use a backend identifier, including for guests. Signing in with Apple also provides an account identifier and may provide a name and email address according to your Apple choices. Every sign-in, a guest's included, leaves on our servers the internet address and the type of device it was last used from. Shared sessions store the set, player names, rolls and bag state so participants can follow the same game.
Community content
Publishing sends a copy of the set, its byline, description, rules and included media to our backend for review. Each time you publish or correct a set we record that you accepted the publishing terms, with the date. Approved, globally available sets can be viewed on this public website. Images and recordings you include in published sets or shared sessions are part of that shared content.
Installations and moderation
The backend records which account installed a community set to count one installation per account. Reports, publisher blocks and moderation decisions are also stored to operate the community and respond to abuse. These are not used for advertising.
Deleting your account
Use Profile → Delete Account in Rollnook, including when using a guest account. Deletion removes your server account, community publications, hosted sessions, installation records, reports and blocks. Moderation records made by your account or concerning your publications are also deleted. Games you joined end; other participants keep a history without your player name, photo or original account and player identifiers. The host can start another session. For Apple accounts, you confirm your identity with Apple so Rollnook can revoke its access. A guest account that is no longer used is also deleted on its own, as described below. Your personal library on the device and iCloud remains unchanged.
How long we keep data
Server sessions, including players, results and bag state, are automatically deleted after 30 days without activity. A guest account is deleted 30 days after its last use, once no session still includes it and no open report concerns it. Reports and moderation decisions are deleted after 90 days. Temporary rate-limit records expire after 24 hours: each attempt to join a session, with the internet address and the account it came from, and each publication or correction, with the account that made it. Cleanup runs periodically. Other accounts, publications, installation records and blocks remain until you delete them or your account, or we remove them through moderation. A publication that you withdraw, that is not accepted or that we remove is deleted 30 days later, with its content, its reports and the records of its terms. One that we also withdraw from the devices that had added it is kept, shown to nobody but its author, until its author withdraws it or deletes the account; its identifier, and nothing else, stays afterwards in the list that tells those devices. Aggregate installation counts can remain without account identifiers.
Shared copies and service records
People who receive shared content may save or export it. Deleting your account cannot recall those independent copies or remove information another person wrote about you in their own content. Contact support if content identifies you. Infrastructure providers may retain security logs and backup copies according to their own retention policies; these are separate from the live app records described above.
Infrastructure and this website
Rollnook uses Apple for iCloud and Sign in with Apple, Supabase in Canada for accounts and community services, and Vercel for this website. Connections use HTTPS. Hosting and backend providers process network requests to deliver the service.
Optional website analytics
If you accept analytics, this website loads Google Analytics to measure page visits and navigation, using cookies and information about your browser, device and visits. Google receives this information to provide analytics. We disable advertising consent, Google signals and advertising personalization in this integration. Analytics stays off until you accept. You can decline without losing any website features, and change your choice using Cookies in the footer. Withdrawing permission stops future measurement and removes this website's Google Analytics cookies; it does not delete data already collected. Your choice and analytics cookies are stored for up to 180 days. This measurement applies to the website, including when you open a tutorial inside Rollnook, and does not add analytics to the native app's screens.
